Are you a new military spouse to Fort Lee? Or have you been here a while, but haven't taken time to see what Fort Lee has to offer?

If you fall into either of these scenarios, keep reading! I'll take you "around" to the Family and MWR facilities at your new, future, or current duty station.

Child and Youth Services

Let’s start with the Child and Youth Services, also known as CYS.

If you're a parent of a younger child, then you may be interested in learning more about the Child Development Centers (CDC). Fort Lee has four CDC facilities: Battle Drive Child Development Center, Battle Annex Child Development Center, Sisisky Child Development Center, and Yorktown Child Development Center. Based on your child's age and childcare needs, it will determine which facility is best for you.

If your child is in kindergarten through 5th grade, the Fort Lee School Age Center (SAC) is for you. The SAC offers before and after school care during the school year, as well as winter, spring break, and summer camp programming.

For those of you with older children, CYS has a Youth Center for youth between 11-18 years old. This facility is a place you can feel good about your pre-teens and teens visiting. They offer a safe and positive atmosphere week days from 2-7 p.m., as well as hours during the summer.

In addition to the CDC, SAC, and Youth Center facilities, there is also the Family Child Care (FCC) option, which is home-based care for children up to 12 years old.

Fort Lee CYS also offers Youth Sports, SKIES Unlimited, and School Support Services.

To get your child(ren) involved, call or stop by CYS's Parent Central Services.

Fitness Centers

Next on our tour, we will talk about Fort Lee's Fitness Centers.

Fort Lee has five Fitness Center’s on-post: Army Logistics University Recreation Facility, Clark Fitness Center, MacLaughlin Fitness Center, Strength Performance Center, and Ordnance Recreation Facility.

For more information on the above fitness centers, click each place to find their hours of operation, list of classes, and additional information.

You may be wondering about entertainment for you and your family. Well you're in luck, because Fort Lee has se veral options! You can click on the option(s) that interests you, and it will take you to their webpage.

The Picture Perfect Frame Shop is not only your go-to for picture framing options, but also for arts and crafts, trophy orders, and more. They offer a wide variety of painting and crafting events, to include their very popular - Canvas and Cork.

TenStrike Bowling Center has plenty to offer for you and your family. Aside from lane and shoe rentals, they also have a youth bowling league, events, and they can even host your next birthday or retirement party. In addition to all of that, they also boast a game room and the TenStrike Action City Grill with tons of food options. They have your entertainment covered for your next family outing or event.

The HideAway would be a good bet if music, dancing, and beer tasting is more your speed. The Hideaway offers different events throughout the year, as well as Friday and Saturday Karaoke, beer tasting from local Virginia Beer companies, and social events.

The Overtime Sports Bar, located in The Lee Club, is where you can find Right Arm Night every third Wednesday of the month.

Sustainers' Pub, located in the IHG hotel, isn’t just for hotel guests. If you and your crew like Trivia, they offer a Trivia Night on Tuesdays. They also have Tap Attack every second and last Friday of the month. Tap Attack lets you try some local Virginia brews. Who wouldn’t want to experience that?

The Lee Playhouse is where it’s at for great live theater. Throughout the year, the theater puts on some well be-loved performances from Musicals to KidKapers. In the past, they have put on Steel Magnolias, Jerry’s Girls, and The Little Mermaid. Whether you or someone you know wants to try their hand at auditioning or just spend some time enjoying the theater, this is a great opportunity.

Recreation

Next up, we will talk about recreation around Fort Lee.

When the temperature rises, nothing is more refreshing than a dip in a pool. Battle Drive Pool, located near The Lee Club, offers swim lessons, party options, as well as fun in the sun swimming. Battle Drive Pool opens Memorial Day weekend, and is open seven days a week.

Did you know we have a beautiful 27-hole, champion golf course right here on Fort Lee? The Cardinal Golf Club has a fully stocked pro-shop and a quick-service restaurant in addition to the course. If you like getting out in the fresh air and enjoying a day at the golf course, then stop by and check it out.

Now let's talk about the Outdoor Recreation Center. This is not only a good way to take trips and exciting adventures, but they also have rentals for many of your outdoor needs, to include parties, camping, skiing and more! Did you know you can rent a boat for a weekend fishing trip? They also have camping equipment, snowboards, inflatables for that unforgettable birthday party, canopies and more.

Did you know there is a library on Fort Lee? Aside from a collection of books, there are also computers for internet usage, DVD’s you can rent, and a children’s corner.

Fort Lee’s Army Community Services, also known as ACS, has plenty to offer. When you relocate to a new place, ACS should be your first stop. They offer programs like Relocation Readiness, New Parent Support Program (NPSP), Financial Readiness Program, Army Emergency Relief (AER), and more.

The Financial Readiness Program offers classes on credit management, investing, and saving. This is a great program to take advantage of!

Auto Crafts

Everyone will, at some point, need work done on their vehicle. Auto Crafts has seven work bays and four vehicle lifts, as well as tools and a trained instructor for do-it-yourself assistance. This is a good way to save some money and learn some new skills.

Community Events
